Fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing. And I just wanted to share a little bit more about you before we did get started. So judy is the president of Judy Hoberman and Associates, a company focused on empowering professional women. She has been a TEDx speaker, and is the author of four books, including selling in a skirt and walking on the glass floor. Our mission is to help one woman a day by following an important philosophy. Women want to be treated equally not identically. I love it. And the title for today's episode is how to stand out and be sought out. And judy is going to show us how to do that in just seven minutes. So good luck question of one today is who is your target audience or ideal client.

So my ideal clients are women in leadership and women in sales. And it can it's not really a an age bracket, it's really more of you know, the career that they've chosen. I do want to just add a side note that I do not discourage men, because I really believe that men are champions for women. So that's the other half of it.

Excellent, thank you. And when your clients typically come towards you, what would you say is normally the biggest challenge that

they face, one of the biggest things is standing out whether you're standing out in the sea of sameness for sales, or standing out and not being one of the boys in leadership. And so it's hard. It's also speaking up and time management and confidence at all lumps into that one piece about standing out.

But yeah, it makes complete sense. And I guess for those people that are unable to stand out for whatever reason, what impacts might have on either them or their business?

Well, they're missed opportunities. Because if you're not standing out, whether you're doing it on your own, or you're having somebody that's an advocate for you, you're missing opportunities, whether it's for new clients, or whether it's for building relationships, or a new promotion, or whatever it may be, you're missing those opportunities. So we have to learn how to do this without feeling, you know, without feeling inauthentic, and just being you because that's really what you want to do is you want to be you.

Absolutely and and that missed opportunity or leaving opportunities on the table can also lead to frustration, which isn't a good place to be in business. Totally. And the next question for me then is what would you say as what is one piece of valuable advice that you might give to somebody to help them solve this problem.

But I do believe that being intentional is one of the biggest things that we can do for ourselves, whether you have to ask for what you want, what you feel you deserve, be intentional, whether it's starting a new position, or you're you're in negotiating a raise, be intentional with that. And when you are intentional, you're also being present, because there's nothing better than being present in front of somebody where you can actually look at them in the eyes, even though we're doing things virtually. You still get to see people I mean, look, we're we're miles and miles and 1000s of miles apart yet we're right here with each other. So when you're president, you're showing somebody that you're interested in them not interesting to them.

Yeah, President and I think you mentioned as well, setting that intention, that's always a great idea before you go into any meeting or sales opportunities, what is the intention you want to get out correctly? Absolutely. Thank you. And what then is one valuable resource that you can share with people to help them maybe get started on this journey?

So, you know, there is a resource that I ordinarily give to my clients, and I call it you know, do you have what it takes? And it's really how you outline who you are, what you're looking to do? And what are the expectations? And so do you have what it takes and most of us do, some of us push it down, because we don't believe we really should be showing that you know, women are always taught don't brag don't glow. And the truth of the matter is that if you don't talk about yourself, nobody else is going to it's not like when we were little my mom would say to me, if you have to tell somebody, you're wonderful, then you're not. Well, I get that. And I understand that. I'm not talking about bragging, I'm talking about do you have what it takes. And so it's a great resource, and it's going to be something that I'm going to send off to you as well as a special report.

So question for yourself, then obviously, you've been We've been in business and you know, you've worked in different industries. So what would you say is one of your greatest either key learnings or mistakes or failures that you've made either in life or in business? And what did you learn from

it? I think one of my greatest learning, which I don't really want to call it a failure, because it wasn't a failure, I decided to go into the corporate arena, which I had never done before is always 100%. commission based, I was a salesperson, I was an agency manager, I had three agencies of my own, and I decided to take this leap into being corporate. And while getting paid on a regular basis was really lovely. Being in a toxic environment is not. And so my biggest mistake and learning lesson was I lasted too long, I stayed too long. And when I decided to leave, it was jumping without a parachute, and building it on the way down. And so my learning lesson was don't wait so long. And when you know, it's not right, don't stay because it's not going to get any better. And it really, it took a lot out of me, I was physically getting ill. And until my kids said to me, you're gonna end up in the hospital. So can we just can we call it a day? And so it was very difficult. But what I did,

yeah, can sound when you've got mortgages to pay any bills, you know, that that monthly salary income is, is great. And it's very difficult to move away from as an entrepreneur. So yeah, totally, maybe start, maybe start creating on the side a little bit before you do make that leap as well if you need to.

That's one way of doing the other thing I did was what because I got paid every other week that I got paid, I earmarked it investment into my business. I had no idea what my businesses were going to be, but I didn't, I didn't present them as much, you know, because I knew that I was I was leaving, they just wouldn't take my rent my resignation. So yeah, that worked out.

They were they were they're almost helping you launch your business by having that money set aside each week. So yeah, that's a great way to look at it. And your last question for me today is what is the one question that I should have asked you today that will also bring some great value to our audience?

So it's a question that I learned. And it's a question when you ask this question, it opens up a very different direction in the relationship. And every time I ask it, most people will say, Oh, no one's ever asked me that before. So the question is, what do you still want to accomplish? And it's, it's a totally different kind of questions. So you probably don't want to ask it because it does lead into a lot of chatter.

Yeah, yeah. What do you still want to accomplish? What do you have to do you have something you still want to accomplish. I still

want to get my message out to more and more women and make sure that we can work together to move the needle in women in leadership, because if you hear the statistics there, there are more men named john than there are women as CEOs. Yeah, that's kind of difficult. So I just want to I want to continue what I'm doing because I love what I'm doing. I want to do more of it. And I just want to help others and work together to move the needle.
